Evidence Based Approach
to Patient Care

What is Regenerative Therapy?

We implement a wide range of tools, including many different modalities including management of medications for acute pain, diet and exercise recommendations, joint injections including PRP, adipose derived stem cells and prolotherapy to address your joint pain effectively.

We start with a complete health history and a comprehensive evaluation including physical examinations. When needed, we will perform a diagnostic ultrasound on the body part or area you have pain to determine the root cause. We will discuss results in that same appointment and go over treatment options. Our commitment is to ensure that your healthcare journey is thorough, personalized, and effective.

DEFFINITION

Naturopathic and Regenerative Therapy at Veeva

Our patient-centric approach begins with a comprehensive consultation to provide detailed insight into your overall health, lifestyle, and well-being. This initial assessment enables us to design a treatment plan specifically tailored to your needs. We delve into various aspects, including your family health history, mood, and mental state, providing a comprehensive view of your health. Our primary role here at Veeva is the management of acute, chronic and complex pain cases.

OUR APPROACH

What is PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)?

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is a treatment method that utilizes platelets to induce healing not only within joints but also in the adjacent damaged soft tissues. This therapeutic approach begins with drawing 20-30 ml of blood from the patient. This blood sample is subsequently spun in a centrifuge, a process that separates the red blood cells, which settle at the bottom, from the plasma that floats at the top. The surplus plasma is carefully removed, leaving a highly concentrated solution of platelets. In the context of shoulder treatment, PRP can be deployed in the intra-articular space and directly injected into the rotator cuff tendons or the biceps tendon sheath. Ultrasound guidance is used to ensure precise placement of the injection.
The fundamental mechanism of PRP treatment lies in the injection of these concentrated platelets into the damaged tissue. Once injected, the platelets open and release a variety of proteins. These proteins carry out multiple functions, primarily acting as anti-inflammatories. After the initial inflammation flare-up subsides, which typically lasts for 24-36 hours, most patients begin to notice significant improvement in the first week following treatment. By the sixth week, patients often report a substantial alleviation of symptoms. It’s important to note that the maximum benefits of PRP treatment are usually observed around six months, as the body requires time to completely heal the formed scar tissue.

It’s noteworthy that while Personal Injury Protection (PIP) covers PRP treatment, it is not typically covered by workers’ compensation or most health insurance plans.
